Emily-Marie Nagel D’Ercole, age 88 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away Friday, January 29, 2010, having suffered several strokes since July 3, 2006.  She was born August 12, 1921 in Hamilton, Ohio.  She graduated from Hamilton High School Class of 1940.  Just after graduation she was awarded the title of Miss Hamilton at Hamilton’s Sesquicentennial celebration.  She worked for Beckett Paper Company where she was affectionately referred to as “Margie” by many of the employees.  When she turned 21, she immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy in order to do her part in service to her country as well as helping the war effort.  She made history as part of the 11th regiment of WAVES-the Women’s Auxiliary Volunteer Emergency Service.  After Boot Camp at Hunter College in New York, she was transferred to Chelsea Naval Hospital where she served her time as a Medical Service Corps Yeoman 2/c.  It was during this time that she met her husband of 51 years who preceded her in death, John Joseph D’Ercole.  They were married on March 24, 1945 in Berkeley, California.  Emily and John settled in Hamilton, Ohio after being discharged from the Navy.  She held various part time and full time jobs over the years with places such as Hamilton Foundry, Garfield High School, 2nd National Bank and CHACO Credit Union.  Her volunteer service included such organizations as the American Cancer Society, The American Legion, The German-American Society, The Italian-American Society, the Brush and Easel Club, and the USS Tuscaloosa-USS Wichita Association. Of all the jobs she held, the one that had the most impact on the world was that of mother to their four daughters who survive both she and John:  Marianne Marconi of Trenton, Ohio; Elizabeth Geyer of Pensacola, Florida; Angela Wallace of Hamilton, Ohio; Tina-Marie D’Ercole (Jaskot) of Warrenton, Virginia.  She was preceded in death by a son, John Joseph D’Ercole, Jr., her husband, John Joseph D’Ercole, parents and siblings. She will be remembered as a loving, caring and devoted wife and mother who will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, February 4, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N.
