Elenier "Betty" Laubenstein, age 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 2nd 2010 from Westover Retirement Community. She was born on April 22nd 1919 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of Clifford and Iva (Burkhardt) Pawlowsky. She was educated in the Hamilton School System and a graduate of Hamilton High School. Betty married her beloved husband, Alfred on June 18th 1943 and was married for 52 years. Her husband preceded her in death on December 15th 1996 but they remained bound by love and are together again. They had one son, Richard Laubenstein of Hamilton. Betty was employed at Wilmers and Elder Beerman Department Stores and later as a cafeteria worker at Hamilton High School. She was a life long active member of Grace United Methodist church, on many committees but her biggest passion at Grace was teaching her kindergarten and first grade Sunday School Class for 59 years. She was also an active poll worker for the Butler County Board of Elections, did meals on wheels for many years and was a caregiver to two of her family members. She was a giving person, even to those she didn’t know. Betty always had a hug, a smile and an I Love You even to strangers. Her zeal for life lifted the spirits of everyone around her and she became a role model for all who knew her. Those left to cherish her memory are her son, her nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and her sister in law, Edna Pawlowsky. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and three brothers, Jim, Merle and Cork Pawlowsky and two sisters, Charlotte Stapleton and Gertrude Garling. Her son, Richard, would like to thank the caring staff of nurses at Westover for the care and compassion shown her. She loved them all and always had a sense of humor that kept them on their toes. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Weigel Funeral Home, 980 N. W. Washington Blvd. with Dr. Robert Ingram officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be Wednesday evening, January 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to Grace United Methodist Church, 1200 Main Street, Hamilton, Ohio 45013.
